DP World hands Asia Pacific reins to 30-year veteran Jason Varsamidis

DP World has named Jason Varsamidis as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for its Asia Pacific region, effective immediately. The appointment places Varsamidis at the helm of the company’s extensive operations across 22 markets, overseeing a workforce of over 12,000 employees in ports, terminals, and logistics services.
Varsamidis brings nearly 30 years of experience to the role, having joined the company in 1997 when it operated as P&O Ports. His most recent position was Chief Financial Officer of DP World Asia Pacific, a role he held since 2020, where he played a key part in shaping the region’s strategy, investment plans, and financial performance.
Prior to that, he served as CFO of DP World Australia for seven years, leading critical initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure development, and business turnaround programs.
