CBED doubles offshore wind fleet with $100m+ CSOV buyout

Danish specialist CBED acquires 2014-built CSOV Wind Dedication, boosting fleet to four vessels.

Danish offshore accommodation provider CBED has bolstered its fleet with the acquisition of a commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) from Seaway7, marking its fourth addition in recent years. The vessel, originally named Seaway Moxie and built in 2014, has been renamed Wind Dedication following its delivery to CBED.

The UK-flagged vessel can house up to 60 personnel, including crew, and joins three other CSOVs in CBED’s fleet: Wind Innovation, Wind Creation, and Wind Evolution. The company added the latter two vessels earlier this year as part of its push to increase its presence in the offshore wind sector. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Wind Dedication will initially remain under Seaway7’s operational control through a charter-back agreement, supporting the contractor’s ongoing offshore wind projects until early 2028. Seaway7 had previously deployed the vessel alongside its cable-laying, heavy-lift, and installation assets, ensuring continuity in its service offerings.

Expansion in offshore wind operations: CBED

CBED’s general manager, Daniel Alon, noted that the company had been seeking to expand its fleet for some time. He highlighted the vessel’s proven operational performance and its capability to operate in challenging sea conditions, reinforcing CBED’s ability to support complex offshore projects.

While Wind Dedication will retain its new name and CBED branding, the company plans to repaint the vessel in its fleet colors during its next scheduled drydock. The move aligns the vessel’s appearance with the rest of CBED’s fleet, signaling its full integration into the company’s long-term operations.
