Russia Launches 258-Drone Barrage: Ukraine’s Ports and Cities Under Fire

A warehouse belonging to Roshen, a major Ukrainian chocolate manufacturer founded by former President Petro Poroshenko, was destroyed near Kyiv. Meanwhile, Russia reported a Ukrainian drone attack on a logistics complex in Ulfa operated by the retailer Ozon, forcing its closure. Kyiv has accused prominent Russian e-commerce companies of supporting Moscow’s war efforts.
Moldova also became an unintended target of the conflict. Three Russian drones crossed into its territory, with one recovered by authorities. President Maia Sandu condemned the incursion as an act of intimidation. The attack coincided with Britain’s announcement that it would assist Ukraine in producing Storm Shadow cruise missiles domestically. In response, Russia warned it could strike British military assets, citing the use of British-supplied weapons in attacks against its territory.
Analysts Warn of Prolonged Conflict
Retired Major-General Scott Clancy noted that while Western support has helped Ukraine sustain its defense, it has not been enough to secure a decisive victory. “Europe has provided support to keep Ukraine in the war, but not sufficient to win it,” he said. “To win against Russia, Kyiv needs more air defenses and advanced drones and missiles.”
Russia claimed its forces also struck an oil refinery in Poltava and three major ports in Odesa, further crippling Ukraine’s logistical and energy networks. The overnight assault left civilians bearing the brunt of the violence, with disruptions to daily life and infrastructure continuing into the following day.
