Ankeri Solutions has been named the Maritime Digitalisation Pioneer at the 2026 Marine Insight Global Awards, marking a decade of innovation in maritime technology. The award, the first presented at the event, recognises organisations that transform data and digital tools into tangible commercial and operational gains for the shipping industry.

The Maritime Digitalisation Pioneer category celebrates platforms that deliver real-world impact, turning data into actionable insights for ships, fleets, and maritime personnel. This year’s judging panel, which included Samantha Montes, evaluated a highly competitive shortlist and a closely contested public vote before selecting Ankeri Solutions. Montes noted that the winner stood out for its widely adopted technology and proven results, describing it as a “functional tool rather than unfulfilled promises.”

The company’s cloud-based platform streamlines fleet management and time-charter contract execution by replacing fragmented manual workflows and spreadsheets with an integrated Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) system. Key features include live vessel tracking, performance metrics, charter reconciliation, and regulatory compliance tools, all unified to provide actionable insights across complex shipping operations.

The award that sets the bar for maritime digitalisation

Ankeri Solutions was founded in 2016 by CEO Kristinn Aspelund and CTO Leifur Kristjansson. What began as a two-person initiative has since evolved into a trusted provider of digital solutions for charter execution, serving global ship owners and operators who share sensitive data and critical processes.

Accepting the award on stage, an Ankeri Solutions co-founder reflected on the company’s journey, emphasising that “innovation is a team sport.” The speech highlighted the collaborative effort behind the platform’s development, acknowledging the trust placed in the company by clients, investors, suppliers, partners, and local communities.

“The winner stood out for its widely adopted technology and proven results, offering a functional tool rather than unfulfilled promises.”

From startup to industry leader: a decade of innovation

The award serves as both recognition and motivation for Ankeri Solutions, which is now integrating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into its platform. The AI-driven features will leverage contextualised data to optimise critical operational tasks, further enhancing efficiency and decision-making in the maritime sector.

Ankeri’s success underscores the growing importance of digitalisation in shipping, where cloud-based solutions are increasingly seen as essential for competitiveness. By unifying data streams and automating workflows, the company is helping the industry transition from traditional, manual processes to a more agile and data-driven future.

The 2026 Marine Insight Global Awards continue to highlight innovation across the maritime sector, with Ankeri Solutions’ win setting a benchmark for digital transformation in fleet management and charter execution.
