BSM welcomes a new LNG dual-fuel car carrier to its fleet

BSM Singapore has welcomed the first LNG dual-fuel car carrier (PCTC), TRANS HARMONY GREEN, to its managed fleet, with Kagoshima Senpaku Kaisha, Ltd. as the bareboat charterer. The vessel is built by the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. It will be the first LNG-fuelled car carrier on the Japan-Southeast Asia route with main cargo of Toyota vehicles.

This is the first of two sister vessels that BSM Singapore takes into management for the owner. Later this year, BSM Singapore will take over the second LNG dual-fuel car carrier, TRANS HARMONY EMERALD.

The TRANS HARMONY GREEN is approximately 195 meters in overall length, approximately 30.6 meters in breadth and has gross tonnage of approximately 49,500. It has the capacity to transport about 3,000 passenger cars at once. The ship’s main engine and main generator engine are high-performance dual-fuel engines each accommodating LNG or diesel fuel. Together, these engines achieve over a 25% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to fuel oil-powered ships of the same hull design. They also cut SOₓ (sulfur oxides) emissions to near zero, significantly reducing the vessel’s environmental footprint.
