$7.4 million in grants will fund six projects to improve vehicle and pedestrian mobility at the Port of Galveston.
The port will add a traffic signal at 33rd Street and Harborside Drive and new wayfinding signage to ease cruise traffic.
A $2.3 million TxDOT grant will fund pedestrian safety improvements, including sidewalks near Harborside Drive.
Two studies totalling $3 million will explore a flyover connecting Interstate 45 to the port’s west end.

The funding, part of an $8.5 million investment, will fund six projects over the next two years, including a new traffic signal, pedestrian safety upgrades, and feasibility studies for a flyover linking the port to Interstate Interstate 45.
