Wärtsilä and WinGD lock in decade-long engine support deal
New agreement guarantees global service for two-stroke engines under WinGD, Wärtsilä and Sulzer brands
Two leading marine technology firms, Wärtsilä and WinGD, have renewed their long-term partnership to provide global support for two-stroke marine engines. The new Service Framework Agreement strengthens their commitment to shipowners and operators by ensuring continued access to expert service solutions.
The agreement, which builds on a collaboration established in 2015, confirms Wärtsilä’s role as an authorised service provider for WinGD, Wärtsilä, and Sulzer-branded two-stroke engines. Shipowners will benefit from combined expertise to improve engine uptime, streamline maintenance planning, and prepare vessels for future fuel requirements and decarbonisation challenges.
WinGD, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for these engines, was formed in 2015 after Wärtsilä sold its two-stroke engine business to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Despite the change in ownership, WinGD has maintained its position as a technology leader in the sector.
