Valenciaport’s traffic continues to grow during the month of August

Since the beginning of 2025, the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has managed 54 million tons and in year-on-year terms it has exceeded 80 million

A total of 493,455 containers passed through the facilities in Valencia, Gandia, and Sagunto last month, 8% more than in August 2024.


A total of 31,276 vehicles were loaded and unloaded at the Sagunto and Valencia terminals (up 12.28%). The cumulative figure since January reached 325,088 units (down 13.97%).


Import and export traffic at Valenciaport (which includes the Valencia, Gandia, and Sagunto terminals) exceeded 6.5 million tons last August, representing a 2.5% increase compared to the same month last year. So far this year, nearly 54 million tons have passed through the three terminals (down 0.56%). Looking at the full year (year-on-year data), traffic volume now exceeds 80 million tons (up 0.47%).

Evaluating container movements , the Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) reports that during last August Valenciaport handled 493,455 TEUs (standard 20-foot containers), which represents an increase of 8.05% compared to August 2024. This figure rises to 3.8 million TEUs, referring to accumulated traffic between January and August (+4.75%). In year-on-year terms, 5.6 million containers have been reached (+7.82%).

The month of August brought positive figures for the automotive market (for freight). In the eighth month of the year, 31,276 vehicles were loaded and unloaded at the Sagunto and Valencia terminals (up 12.28%), although the cumulative figure since January stood at 325,088 units (down 13.97%).

Consolidation of regular line passengers

The statistical data reflect the trend in scheduled passenger traffic , which in August reached 141,992 (+0.69%), surpassing the 104,834 cruise passengers (-18.61%). The year-on-year data, a trend indicator, indicate that the number of passengers using scheduled lines departing from or arriving at Valenciaport reached 834,974 (+1.03%), while the number of cruise passengers rose to 780,580 (-6.20%).

China and the United States among the main markets

China is the international market with the largest volume of freight traffic exchanged with Valenciaport, both in terms of tonnage and TEUs. Thus, so far in 2025, 550,983 containers (+18.81%) and more than 5.8 million tons (+12.46%) have been traded with the Asian country. The United States is another country with the highest volume of trade with the Valencia Port Authority, with 263,192 containers (+6.02%) and more than 4 million tons (+10.21%). Algeria is the third largest market in terms of TEUs (212,581 units and +42.76), while Italy surpasses the US market in terms of cargo weight, exceeding 4.6 million tons (+1.30%).
