Eight people died and 18 remain missing after the FILO Jet passenger ferry sank off Kyrenia in northern Cyprus on Sunday. Authorities have detained the vessel’s captain and seven crew members as part of a criminal investigation into the disaster, which left 241 survivors. The detained crew members told a Kyrenia court that the ferry’s bow fractured after encountering powerful waves, causing rapid flooding.
