AI startup Evos bags $9M to slash freight billing errors by 97%

Evos’ AI operators audit 3,500 invoices in two months, spotting $600,000 in discrepancies for a single brokerage.

Evos’ AI operators are designed to integrate directly into a company’s current software stack. Instead of requiring employees to prompt the tool for each task, the operators observe and replicate the decision-making patterns of experienced staff. Once the AI’s outputs consistently match those of human workers, it takes over the assigned function autonomously.

“The most capable system in many of these businesses is the person who has been there 20 years, and what they know has never been written down,” said Urav Shah, founder and CEO of Evos. The approach is particularly suited to small and midsized industrial firms, where operational knowledge often resides with long-tenured employees rather than formalised procedures.

How the operators work without replacing existing systems: Evos

Evos argues that these businesses, 99.3% of U.S. motor carriers operate fewer than 100 trucks, while 93% of U.S. manufacturers employ fewer than 100 people, lack the resources for lengthy implementation projects. “The platform is fully self-serve: work that would take a consultant or an implementation partner 9 to 18 months to deliver, an Evos operator takes on in 24 hours from discovery to deployment,” the company stated.

One of Evos’ early adopters, freight brokerage MyFreightWorld, deployed an operator to audit less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier invoices against its transportation management system. Over a two-month period, the AI made nearly 3,500 audit decisions with a reported accuracy rate of 97 %. In the most recent five-week span, it flagged billing discrepancies totalling more than $600,000.

Evos clarified that the $600,000 figure represents the gross value of discrepancies identified between MyFreightWorld and its end customers, not actual savings or recovered funds. The company did not disclose the methodology behind its 97 % accuracy claim or the sample size used for measurement.

Freight brokerage case study: 3,500 audits in two months

LTL invoice audits typically uncover errors in accessorial fees, fuel surcharges, and freight classifications. A 2024 analysis by AFS Logistics found 11,881 errors in a review of nearly 250,000 invoices, with inaccurate accessorial charges accounting for 42.8 % of the discrepancies, followed by fuel surcharges at 14.4 % and freight misclassification at 12.3%.

Evos’ funding round was co-led by Uncork Capital and Field Ventures, with participation from Crosslink Capital, Utopia Capital Management, Sandwith Ventures, and angel investors. The company surpassed $1 million in annual recurring revenue just four weeks after its launch but has not disclosed its valuation or the number of customers on its platform.
