Boluda strengthens its position in the port towing and icebreaking market in Northern Europe

Boluda Towage is the world’s leading company in the maritime towing sector, with a large fleet operating in major ports across Europe, Africa, Asia, and America.

The company Arctia Ltd has sold its 90% stake in Arctia Karhu Ltd to Boluda Towage Finland Oy, the Finnish subsidiary of Boluda Towage. The Port Authority of Kemi holds 10% of Arctia Karhu Ltd’s shares and remains a minority shareholder.

Regarding the share sale, all Arctia Karhu operations will continue as usual, with no changes to the company’s personnel. To ensure a smooth transition, Arctia will provide support to Arctia Karhu during the transition period.

Boluda Towage is the world’s leading company in the maritime towing sector, with a large fleet operating in major ports across Europe, Africa, Asia, and America. The company plays an essential role in port logistics, where safety combined with efficiency in vessel operations requires full coordination among all members of the logistics chain.

In the future, Arctia will focus even more on its special mission of icebreaking, maintaining navigable channels, and providing maritime inspection services,” said Maunu Visuri, CEO of Arctia Ltd. “This acquisition is another step in our consolidation in the Scandinavian market, providing coverage to our clients in the northernmost part of the Baltic Sea and strengthening our team in Finland with a fleet operating in the ports of Kokkola, Vaasa, Raahe, Kemi, and Tornio,” said Jani Hannula, Managing Director of Boluda Towage Finland.

Arctia Karhu is a towing and port icebreaking company that primarily operates in the ports of Kemi and Tornio.
