Jiangsu Hengtong Optic-Electric, a Chinese specialist in subsea cables and offshore wind projects, has finalized a series of contracts valued at RMB 1.831 billion ($272.4 million). The agreements cover a range of services, including submarine cable installation, turbine assembly, and ongoing maintenance for offshore wind farms.

The company’s recent contracts include major domestic initiatives such as the 1.2-gigawatt Datang Hainan Danzhou offshore wind farm, the Shenergy Hainan CZ2 demonstration project, and the Changle offshore wind development. Additionally, Jiangsu Hengtong will oversee large-component replacements and turbine installations for the Three Gorges Yangjiang Qingzhou 5 and 7 projects, further solidifying its role in China’s expanding offshore wind sector.

Key domestic projects drive growth: offshore wind contracts

Beyond its domestic operations, the firm has secured projects in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. These international contracts focus on supplying submarine cables, related accessories, and essential equipment for marine energy infrastructure.

The company’s order book reflects strong demand, with RMB 22 billion in energy interconnection projects and RMB 7 billion ($1.04 billion) in marine communications already on its ledger. Production capacity for subsea cables is fully allocated through 2027 and 2028, signaling sustained growth in the sector.
