Over these eleven months, general cargo increased by 6.5% compared to 2023, reaching 257.5 million tons. This growth was driven by a strong increase in containerized cargo (+8.7%) compared to conventional general cargo (+1.7%).
TEUs also recorded similar growth to the rest of the year, rising by 11.2% to a total of 16.7 million units. Regarding the strong rebound in transit TEUs (+16%), growth remains slightly below the levels recorded during the summer months (20.2% in June, 19% in July, and 18.1% in August).
Liquid bulk increased by 2.6% through November, reaching 164.5 million tons, driven by significant rises in chemical products (+134.8%) and gasoline (+30.2%).
All traffic types recorded growth except for solid bulk (-6.7%), which totaled 77.9 million tons due to declines in coal (-43.2%) and cereals and flours (-12.9%).
Ro-ro traffic experienced slight growth of +0.8%, reaching 67.1 million tons.
The number of merchant ships passing through Spanish ports increased by 0.9% through November, totaling 153,749 units, while gross tonnage grew by 2.6%.
Total passenger traffic at Spanish ports rose by 3.6% compared to November 2023, reaching 38.1 million movements.
