Sirius lands CSV duo design deal with energy giant—options for two more

Norwegian designer Sirius will deliver the conceptual and basic design for two 144.7 m CSVs at China’s Fujian Mawei.

Norwegian marine engineering firm Sirius has finalized an agreement to design two large construction support vessels (CSVs) for an undisclosed client described as a major player in the energy industry. The vessels will be constructed at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding’s facilities in China.

The agreement covers two confirmed vessels, with the option to build two additional units at a later stage. Sirius will provide both the conceptual design and the complete basic design package for the ships.

The CSVs will measure 144.7 meters in length with a 27-meter beam. Designed for demanding offshore operations, the vessels will feature two large offshore cranes and two launch and recovery systems (LARS) for remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations. The design also includes provisions for installing a carousel, vertical lay system (VLS), and other specialized equipment to accommodate various mission requirements.
