Norwegian lighting specialist Glamox secures contract to supply military-grade luminaires for two new Multi-Role Combat.
Glamox, a leading global lighting manufacturer, has been awarded a contract to equip Singapore’s newest naval vessels with advanced lighting systems. The agreement with ST Engineering’s Marine division covers both interior and exterior lighting for two Multi-Role Combat Vessels (MRCVs), the largest warships ever built in Singapore. The deal also includes options to supply lighting for four additional ships in the future.
The contract specifies the delivery of specialized luminaires designed to meet the demanding conditions of naval operations. Glamox will provide floodlights, deck lighting, explosion-proof fixtures, navigation lights, and interior lighting systems, all tested to comply with MIL EMC, shock, and vibration standards. These solutions are engineered to ensure reliability in extreme environments, supporting critical functions such as navigation, crew safety, and aircraft operations.
Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2028, with Glamox collaborating with Singapore-based partner Springer-EMS. The vessels will be constructed at ST Engineering’s shipyard in Singapore, integrating Glamox’s lighting systems during the build process.

Tommy Stranden, Chief Sales and Commercial Officer of Glamox’s Marine, Offshore & Wind division, highlighted the significance of the contract. “Lighting plays a vital role in naval operations, from ensuring safe navigation to supporting crew wellbeing and enabling aircraft landings,” he stated. “This partnership with ST Engineering and Springer-EMS reinforces our position as a trusted supplier of high-performance lighting for modern navies worldwide.”
Glamox has previously supplied lighting systems to defence forces, including the US Navy, UK Royal Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy. The company has further strengthened its capabilities in the sector through recent acquisitions, including military lighting specialist Consolite Technologies Limited and naval lighting provider MARL International.
