Export container traffic increased by 10.5% and import container traffic by 16.6%.

Following the trend of previous months, exports and imports at the Port of Barcelona continued to show double-digit growth during the first four months of 2025, reflecting the dynamism of the business community and the economy in its hinterland.

Between January and April of this year, full export containers increased by +10.5%, while full import containers grew by +16.6% compared to the same period in 2024. In contrast, transshipment containers dropped by -19.3%, bringing total container traffic to 1.2 million TEUs (-5.2%). Total cargo traffic exceeded 22.5 million tons, slightly below the figures for the same period last year, with a decrease of -1.3%.

Traffic with the main markets of origin and destination for containerized goods passing through the Port of Barcelona also grew: China (+22.3%), the United States (+3.9%), India (+31.3%), South Korea (+37.2%), and Saudi Arabia (+42.9%).

Liquid bulk traffic approached 5 million tons, driven by strong performance in hydrocarbons (gasoline +90.6% and LNG +63.2%). Despite an increase in cereals and flours (+14.3%), dry bulk traffic, totaling 1.2 million tons, showed a negative trend (-11%) due to declines in soybean meal, cement and clinker, potash, and common salt.

Vehicle traffic amounted to 228,778 units (-7.2%), also reflecting the current uncertainty in the global economy and trade. Intermodal Transport Units (UTIs) totaled 136,341, down -1.2% due to decreases in traffic with Italy and Morocco, while traffic with the Balearic Islands increased by +6.8%.

Passenger numbers between January and April reached 1.1 million, of which 360,398 were ferry passengers. Regarding cruises, there were 753,134 movements, representing 466,621* people visiting the city.
