Bergé has a strong presence in Spain, operating in 27 ports (including Bayonne in France), as well as in Mexico and Colombia. Among other key figures and services, the company handles over 30 million tons of cargo annually and is a leading company in ship agency services, attending nearly 10,000 vessels each year.

Bergé is expanding its relationship with Grimaldi, following an agreement that appoints Bergé as Grimaldi’s commercial agent in Mexico. The objective is to strengthen the country’s trade connections with the eastern coast of South America, the western coast of Africa, as well as the Middle and Far East, particularly for project cargo shipments.

This move also enables Mexico to position itself along routes that Grimaldi is currently developing, such as the one linking Shanghai to Brazil via Lagos, navigating around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa.

All of this will be managed through the ports of Veracruz and Altamira—two of the five most important port facilities in the country and the most significant in the Gulf-Caribbean region—which will serve as spearheads for Mexico’s commercial development beyond the United States, aiming to tap into new markets and reduce dependence on its main trading partner.

With this agreement in Mexico, Bergé further strengthens its relationship with Grimaldi. Earlier in 2024, the two companies signed a deal for Bergé to represent Grimaldi in the port of Vigo, as it already does in Bilbao, providing connections to the Gulf of Mexico and the east coast of the United States, as well as to the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Far East.

At the same time, Bergé reinforces its position in the Mexican market, where it operates a commercial office specializing in all types of cargo, with a particular focus on project cargo. Additionally, the company has been active in Mexico since 2018 supporting Audi’s automotive logistics operations at its plant in San José de Chiapa—an agreement that has since been expanded—as well as in the Volkswagen plant in Puebla, where it has operated since 2013.
