The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved a federal permit for the construction of a new deepwater container terminal on the Gulf Coast, marking a significant step forward for the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA). The Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) is designed to address a critical limitation in the region: the inability of ultra-large container vessels to navigate the Mississippi River due to the height restrictions of the Crescent City Connection bridge.
