Angola’s $5.7bn Agogo FPSO gets subsea lifeline
OneSubsea to supply controls umbilicals for Azule Energy’s West Hub Tails project.
SLB OneSubsea has secured a contract with Azule Energy to supply controls umbilicals for the West Hub Tails project off Angola’s coast. The agreement involves designing and installing additional umbilicals to redirect production from four mature fields in Block 15/06—Sangos, Ochigufu, Mpungi, and Vandumbu—to a new floating production unit.
These fields have been producing through the Ngoma FPSO since 2014, but the vessel is nearing the end of its operational lifespan. The rerouting will shift output to the Agogo FPSO, a newer facility equipped with emissions-reduction systems. The project is part of Azule Energy’s broader Integrated West Hub development, aimed at extending the life of existing assets while improving efficiency.
OneSubsea’s role builds on its previous work in the region, having already supplied umbilicals for other West Hub production centers and tiebacks, including Agogo and Ndungu. The latest contract is separate from an earlier award to TechnipFMC, which covers flexible flowlines and risers for the same redevelopment.
Maria Peralta, vice president of Umbilical & Cable Systems at SLB OneSubsea, highlighted the strategic importance of the project. “This award reflects our partnership with Azule Energy and our shared focus on maximizing recovery while reducing emissions,” she said. “By enabling production to transition to the Agogo FPSO, we’re helping extend field life and support decarbonized operations.”
The Agogo FPSO, contracted by Azule under a 15-year deal with Yinson Production, has a capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day. The vessel’s integration into the West Hub development marks a key step in Angola’s efforts to modernize offshore production infrastructure.
