Digital solutions provider OceanScore has expanded its global footprint by opening a new office in Singapore. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing support for clients in the Asia-Pacific region and addressing the growing demand for regulatory compliance solutions in the maritime industry.

Headquartered in Hamburg, OceanScore officially launched its first office outside of Europe in Singapore. The new office is shared with Blue Net Chartering, a container ship charter and pool manager also based in Hamburg. This co-location is expected to facilitate better integration and collaboration between the two companies.

OceanScore has seen a surge in demand for its digital solutions, which help ship owners comply with complex regulations such as the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) and FuelEU Maritime. These regulations significantly impact vessels trading between Asia and Europe, necessitating robust compliance mechanisms. By establishing a presence in Singapore, OceanScore aims to provide more effective and timely support to its clients in the region.

“Our list of global clients is growing steadily in line with the industry’s pressing need to navigate the complexities of these new regulations. Establishing a presence in this leading maritime hub allows us to cater more effectively for our clientele in this region,” said Albrecht Grell, Managing Director of OceanScore.

OceanScore estimates that the total cost of compliance with the EU ETS for the 1,120 vessels registered in Singapore will reach nearly EUR 400 million by 2026. This figure is based on the requirement for 5.5 million EU Allowances (EUAs) and the current carbon price of EUR 70 per tonne. These significant costs underscore the importance of efficient compliance solutions.

To lead the Singapore team, OceanScore has appointed Leo Grayson as Head of Commercial APAC. Grayson brings extensive experience and expertise to the role, aiming to provide dedicated support and responsive service to regional clients. “By providing dedicated expertise and responsive service on the ground, we will be able to readily support regional clients with the resources they need to tackle their compliance requirements,” Grayson commented.

OceanScore’s digital solutions currently cover over 1,000 vessels, serving major clients such as MSC, Döhle Group, Norbulk, Offen Group, Orion, and Zeaborn Ship Management. The company’s innovative tools and technologies are designed to simplify compliance processes, reduce operational risks, and ensure adherence to international regulations.

The opening of the Singapore office marks a significant milestone in OceanScore’s growth strategy. It reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the maritime industry’s transition towards more sustainable practices. By leveraging digital solutions, OceanScore helps ship owners and operators navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance, ultimately contributing to a greener and more efficient shipping industry.

This expansion also aligns with broader industry trends, as maritime companies increasingly adopt digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency and meet stringent environmental standards. With its new office in Singapore, OceanScore is well-positioned to capitalize on these trends and drive further growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
