The word that best defines the past year for Haizea Wind Group is growth—in results, production capacity, technology, and workforce. The Group closed 2024 with revenues of 371 million euros, a 32% increase compared to the previous year, and an EBITDA of 47 million euros, which boosted its profit by 211%, reaching 18 million euros. Additionally, Haizea Wind Group has established itself as a benchmark in job creation, reaching 1,500 professionals.

Haizea Wind Group has four production units distributed across different plants: offshore towers and foundations at Haizea Bilbao; offshore towers at Haizea Breizh; large casting components at Haizea Grupo WEC; and onshore towers and suction sails at Haizea Tecnoaranda.

Expansion of Haizea Bilbao

Haizea Bilbao solidified its growth in 2024 by completing the construction of its new facilities at the Port of Bilbao. In 2023, Haizea Wind Group’s Bilbao plant decided to expand its production capacity to meet the demands of contracts signed with Scottish Power, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, and the Danish multinational Ørsted. To achieve this, the company invested over 250 million euros to add three new production halls to the existing three, along with an additional storage area for monopile storage before delivery.

With this investment, Haizea Bilbao has established itself as Europe’s leading factory for XXL monopiles, allowing the Group to diversify its customer portfolio and strengthen its position as a key player in the global wind industry.

A Look at the Other Plants

The year 2024 has been particularly challenging for Haizea Tecnoaranda and Haizea Grupo WEC, two plants that successfully met their budget targets despite the difficulties faced by their clients—wind turbine manufacturers—especially in the onshore wind sector.

Additionally, Argentina’s economic challenges have impacted the Group. The country’s situation and administrative decisions have significantly weakened the local wind market since July 2024. As a result, Haizea Wind Group was forced to sell its Argentine factory to its local partner, Sica, enabling Sica to repurpose the facilities for its traditional business operations. Meanwhile, the Group welcomed more than 40 employees from Haizea Sica to its Bilbao factory, strengthening its production capacity at the Port of Bilbao.

At the same time, production has resumed at the Haizea Breizh facilities in France to manufacture components for the Le Tréport and Noirmoutier projects for Siemens Gamesa, aiming to build on the success of the St. Brieuc project completed in 2023.

Governance and Sustainability

Haizea Wind Group has focused on strengthening its corporate structure and governance throughout the past year. In this regard, two independent directors have been appointed, committees have been established (Strategy, Appointments and Remuneration, and Audit), the corporate structure has been streamlined, and financial ratios have been improved.

Haizea Wind Group implements tangible policies aimed at sustainability and responsible governance, consistently going beyond regulatory requirements.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Haizea Wind Group has obtained Ecovadis certifications for its Haizea WEC, Tecnoaranda, and Bilbao plants. Additionally, it has reinforced its commitment to decarbonization and the 2030 Agenda by accelerating progress towards the SDGs through the Forward Faster initiative in gender equality, climate action, and sustainable finance and investment.

In terms of training, the company collaborates with special employment centers, contributing €2.24 million annually. It also runs the Hiwind Program—University Expert in Business Development in partnership with Mondragon University—and has launched the Tecnoaranda Academy training platform.
