Boluda Towage, the towing division of Boluda Corporación Marítima, expands its presence in the American continent with the start of operations at Honduras’ largest port, Puerto Cortés.
This port enclave, located in the north of the country on the Caribbean coast, is one of the largest and best-equipped in the region and the only deep-water port in Central America.
Boluda’s fleet consists of three powerful ASD-propelled tugboats (70-ton bollard pull): the VB KUKULKAN, the VB BRIBON, and the VB CHIHUAHUA. The first two were recently built by Damen Shipyards and comply with the strict IMO TIER III regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding emission reductions for marine engines. They are the first tugs with this environmental certification to operate in Honduras.

The safety and maneuvering optimization provided by these tugboats during port operations will streamline the logistics chain, ensuring a continuous flow of the country’s maritime foreign trade.
Boluda remains firmly committed to decarbonization and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as improving air quality in coastal areas and port cities where it operates.
