Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) successfully took delivery of its first methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier M.V. Brave Pioneer on 15 January 2026 from Tuneshi Cebu Shipyard, demonstrating its operational preparedness for a multi-fuel future.

The vessel was named on the day of delivery and subsequently proceeded to Singapore, where green methanol bunkering was successfully completed. The bulk carrier can run on green methanol, a lower-carbon substitute, as well as traditional marine fuels. Using green methanol instead of conventional fuel is thought to save up to 70% of CO2. Upon completion of bunkering, M.V. Brave Pioneer commenced its voyage and is currently proceeding to Australia to load a bulk cargo for discharge in Europe.

“As future fuels move from concept to reality, our role as ship manager is to ensure they can be operated safely, reliably, and at scale. We are proud to welcome this methanol dual-fuel vessel into our managed fleet. Her delivery reflects our commitment to operational excellence while supporting our clients’ decarbonization ambitions,” said Firoze Mirza, Managing Director of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement in Hong Kong.
