With the aim of strengthening logistics competitiveness and promoting more efficient foreign trade, the National Port Authority (APN), an agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), participated in the 11th Public-Private Technical Roundtable to promote foreign trade through the Central Multimodal Corridor. The meeting was convened by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and held at the General San Martín Port Terminal, operated by Puerto de Paracas, in the Ica region.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress of the Central Multimodal Corridor Action Plan and jointly assessed its implementation with the objective of identifying opportunities to further strengthen the country’s logistics competitiveness. Contributions from public institutions and private sector stakeholders involved in this key logistics corridor were also gathered.
Public and private sectors join forces
The technical roundtable brought together representatives from a wide range of government institutions and private sector organisations, providing a platform for coordination and dialogue aimed at improving connectivity, port logistics efficiency and foreign trade development.
Key topics discussed included strategies to strengthen logistics corridors and facilitate foreign trade; port infrastructure planning and development; progress on the New Central Highway and the Lima–Ica, Lima–Barranca and Huancayo–Huancavelica railway projects; the development of the Truck Center, the Ancón Industrial Park and the Callao Inland Port; customs procedure optimisation; opportunities to expand exports; and the modernisation and equipment projects at the General San Martín Port Terminal.
Technical visit to General San Martín Port Terminal
As part of the agenda, participants carried out a technical visit to the General San Martín Port Terminal, where they reviewed the progress of its infrastructure and operational capabilities, both considered essential for strengthening the Central Multimodal Corridor and consolidating a more efficient logistics chain.
Representatives from the Ministry of Production, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, public institutions, business associations and logistics and port operators took part in the event, including Puerto de Paracas and the National Port Company (ENAPU).
The National Port Authority reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to work alongside public institutions and the private sector to promote initiatives that strengthen infrastructure, connectivity and the competitiveness of Peru’s National Port System, contributing to the development of foreign trade and the country’s sustainable growth.
